The Skylands Rotary Club delivered more than 1,000 dictionaries to 3rd and 4th grade students in 7 public schools in Byram, Stanhope, Netcong and Mount Olive.

"The Skylands Rotary Club has been providing dictionaries to local schools for many years," said Skylands Rotary Club Vice President Bob Hathaway. "These dictionaries will help kids become better writers, active readers, creative leaders and resourceful learners. I am proud to be part of this important initiative year after year."

This project was funded by a District Grant from Rotary International District 7475 as well as through the generosity of these sponsors:
  • Mount Olive Schools: Amazon
  • Byram School: Live The Lake NJ
  • Netcong School: Fulton Bank
  • Stanhope School: CrownPoint Group
About The Dictionary Project:
The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.
